3 Outfits That Always Work

.jpeg

We all have those outfits that we love to fall back on. Whether you have nothing to wear that day or just want a low-key outfit that you know will deliver, there’s something comforting about having a few key looks stashed in your wardrobe that you can just whip out when necessary. I’m a big fan of outfit planning but whether I’m looking for a more simple look or am just lacking inspiration there are a few looks that I can always rely on.

Having a handful of outfits like this can make life so much easier. You know these outfits are comfortable, suit you, do the job but also that you feel great in them. They are the definition of a fail safe. If you don’t already have some of these looks then I’m sharing 3 of my favourites that have helped me out more times than I can remember.

Look 1: Denim, White T Shirt, Blazer & Trainers

This is one of my favourite go-to looks because most people will have these staples (or some version) of them within their wardrobe. These are also the types of items that I tend to have double of so even if I feel like I have nothing to wear I almost always have at least 1 pair of jeans and 1 T shirt clean. I prefer a slightly looser fit of denim with this look and generally will always go for a lighter blue wash. A black blazer is a classic and you can never really go wrong but for some added colour thrown in a baby blue or pink one instead. When it comes to shoes I am still a massive fan of pairing plain trainers with a blazer, I love that “high-low” style of dressing, it adds a nice casual twist to the outfit and let’s be honest, its comfy as hell.

Look 2: White Shirt, Denim, Heeled Sandals, Trench Coat

A crisp white shirt will never see you wrong, mix with some denim and  pair of shoes and you’re sorted. Personally I prefer my white shirts to have some ‘detail’ to them. Think slit open backs, interesting buttons, frills, big sleeves etc. I find this is a good way to dress up an otherwise simple outfit and give it a bit more of a twist. As the weather gets warmer I like to go for this with a pair of low heels that are still practical for wearing all day but also dress up the outfit and give it more of a contemporary look. To finish the look I always like to opt for a trench coat. It’s such a classic piece in most peoples wardrobe and won’t detract from whatever you have going on with the style of shirt or shoes. Plus they are perfect for this awkward time when the weather hasn’t quite made it’s mind up on how it’s going to be on any given day.

Look 3: White jeans, Neutral Knit, Boots

Yes, we are now moving into the spring but a thin knit is something that I tend to get the wear out of all year round. Pair that with a pair of white jeans and you have an instantly more spring-approrpiate look. For a more contemporary look go for a straight leg or mom-fit white jean, especially as these tend to be a little more flattering than super tight skinnies. White jeans may not be for everyone but for me they are a staple and an instant way to brighten up any outfit. Pair with a pair of tan boots on those cooler days or with a pair of neutral sandals when the weather gets a little warmer and you’re good to go.

If you’re stuck for what to wear this week or are looking to invest in some new wardrobe staples that you can be sure you will get the wear out of them hopefully this has sparked some inspiration. Whether you take my suggestions or just formulate some of your own, having a  few fail-safe and stand-by outfits is a sure fire way to make your mornings less stressful, help you to always look put together and also take some of the stress out of planning outfits so you can enjoy to creative and inspiring side of fashion more.
