3 Things: How To Build A Morning Make Up Routine

Wearing make up to work is not an essential, you don't have to (for most jobs) and I fully appreciate anyone who says they'd rather have the extra 10 minutes in bed. Personally though I find it's the quickest way to help me feel ready to take on the day, finish off any outfit and give me that little confidence boost we all do frequently need. Whether you're up at 5.30am for a long commute, you have to get off on the school run or just prize your beauty sleep, applying make up first thing can quickly feel less like a chore and more like something you enjoy once you have a solid routine with reliable products. I've built mine up over time and with under 10 minutes in front of the mirror at home (and up to another 5 on the train) I can quickly look and feel much more put together and ready to take on the day. Work out your priorities Like anything in life, work out your priorities. What are the areas you're most conscious of? What will make you feel the most confident and ready in the shortest time? For me it's a case of brows, concealer, lashes and liner. Tidy brows will always leave you looking instantly more groomed and a good brightening concealer will perk up tired eyes, even if you don't have time for an entire base routine. Heavy mascara can look strange with no other definition in the eye area so I always go for something, even if it's just subtly blended out brown liner to balance s look out.

2. Use the products you trust 6am is not the time to try out a brand new product if you're going for a routine that's fool-proof. Keep in rotation the products that you can rely on and that you know work well for you. 6am is not the time to be trying out new products, especially if you're not sure the shade or formula of somethings will even suit you. Stick to what you know and the application methods you prefer to keep things quick

3. Keep it's simple Don't over-complicate tour routine with products you don't need. Slim line your makeup bag so you've only got the items you need and love in it. It's amazing how quickly your daily bag can become over run with lipsticks you don't really used and eye liners you forgot you even owned. Keeping a lighter collection for days when you know you'll be in a hurry means you aren't searching around for the one thing you want and your routine will be that but quicker and refined.

These steps have helped me to curate a quick & simple routine so I can make the most of my time in bed in the mornings and still feel put-together and confident.
