The Autumn Beauty Switch Up

Autumnal Make Up

As the seasons have changed so has the contents of my make up bag. It's officially autumn and my favourite time of the years. I adore the cosy evenings, crisp mornings and crunchy leaves but most of all I love the changes in trends and style. It's time to start bringing out the knitwear and altering my make up to reflect the new season. I've been longing for this ever since the British summer gave up on us some time in mid-July so it's a welcome change.

For skin I want to prolong that summer glow just a little bit longer. The colder weather can dry out my skin and leaving it looking a little lack-luster especially as I start to get paler. The YSL Touche Eclat Teint Foundationand YSL TOuche Eclat both work to give your skin that added radiance and brightness. The foundation has a good coverage, it covers any blemishes and evens out skin tone without feeling too heavy on the skin. The glow it gives isn't too intense, its more of a healthy radiance and helps to give a perfected look to the skin. The Touche Eclat is a much-loved product and one that I use to give a subtle highlight across the tops of my cheeks and brow bones along with a little to brighten under the eyes where things can start to look a little dull and sallow. To add a pinch of colour I opt for a more rust toned blush. Something a little more warming than my previous neutral summer option. The cream formula of this H&M Blusher is beautiful and blends into the skin seamlessly for a natural and flushed look. A little goes a long way and can be built up for a subtle hint of colour or something more intense.

Autumnal eyeshadow shades always get me excited. Khaki green is a favourite of mine and a nice change to taupes or browns. It's flattering with most eye colours and can be built up for a twist on a smokey eye. Warmer rust shades can be harder to wear but make blue eyes pop beautifully. Even on my brown eyes I love how they bring out the different tones and give an autumnal twist to my normal make up look. The other way I like to incorporate colour into my autumn look is through lip colour. Rich berry tones and deep reds are my personally favourites to take you from day to night and give that wintering edge to your look. They require little else in terms of make up and when you get the right shade and texture they can look just as stunning as a red lip, if not, more.

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir

Fragrance is another beauty essential that is swapped around in the autumn. Instead of my usual floral and fruity scents I opt for something a little deeper and richer in scent like Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir. The pomegranate still gives a sweet edge to this whist the spicier notes leave you feeling warmed. Swapping perfumes can instantly change your mood and a change in seasons is a good excuse to go for deeper, woodier tones that you may not go for during the warmer months.
