Introducing Colour For Spring

Spring has finally arrived. With it's lighter evenings and (slightly) warmer weather comes a whole host of new trends across the fashion and beauty spaces, giving us the opportunity to experiment with our styles yet again and freshen everything up with some new styles and colours. Incorporating brighter hues into your everyday look has been a popular choice over the past few weeks. From pretty pastel eyes to bold lips, colour is making a comeback and proving to us all that it can be fun to add a little pop into our normal looks. Incorporating these shades on an everyday basis can seem daunting though, taking colour from editorial to accessible can be a bit of a challenge but it's also fun and ultimately that's what makeup is about. It's fun to change things up a little and introduce something a little different for this season.

On the face...

Adding a little colour to the face with a vibrant blush is an easy way to start introducing a little more colour. It instantly perks up your complexion and adds that youthful shot of colour to the cheeks. A cream or cushion formula will work alongside any liquid bases that have already been applied to enhance a natual looking radiance. The Lancome Cushion Blush give you the flexibility to build the colour so it can be a subtle hint or a bold statement for your spring look.

On the eyes...

Coloured liners are a quick and simple way to add a pop of colour. Blend a little lilac along the lower lash line, go for a royal blue liner flick or apply a bold yellow along the water line, there are so many ways to wear liner and so many shades on offer it's easy to customise the look to something you are comfortable with. The bolder you want to be the thicker and more graphic you can make the line. Mix a couple of shades for a unique look that is fun but still office-appropraite. Long lasting formulas like the Marc Jacobs Matte Highlighers mean you don't need to worry about touching up throughout the day and you can trust they'll last whether they're on your lash line, waterline or all over the lid.

If you aren't one for line then mascara is another simple way to incorporate a touch of colour, swap your usual black for navy or touch a little turquoise on the ends of your lashes. It will allow you to play along with the trend without diving too far in or spending hours perfecting the perfectly crafted eye look

On the lips...

Pinks, corals and other pastel hues are synonymous with the spring. If you aren't one for your usual brights, try something a little more muted like shad 504 from the Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet collection. The lightweight formula is comfortable to wear on the lips with an intense colour pay off, giving the perfect nod to spring time colour. For more of a statement go for a bolder shade like L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Matte Lipstick 229 with a brilliant orange tone.

Adding colour into your everyday look can seem intimidating and there is always a little fear associated but, makeup should be fun and when combined with a simple and classic look a little touch of colour can be a gorgeous modern twist on your usual everyday look. Pick the shades that suit you and that you are still comfortable with even if they are a little outside of your comfort zone.
