While we’re all still longing to see our hairdressers there are some products that have been making the wait a little easier.

Everyone has different priorities but one of the first people I want to see when this is all over is my hairdresser. For the best part of a year we’ve all been left to our own devices when it comes to our hair and while some experiments have gone better than others, I think we all now appreciate the true value of a good hairdresser.

That said, it’s also been a time when I’ve finally started to look after my hair. I’ve invested a bit more money and significantly more time into the routine and it’s made a real difference to the look and feel of my hair. It’s nothing complicated but it is effective. From the shampoo I’m using to the styling products keeping everything in place, they’ve all played their part.

Shampoo & Conditioner

Function Of Beauty

I fell for the Instagram ads, who hasn’t? But actually I’ve been impressed. The personalised formula means my hair is getting exactly what it needs, from colour protection to hydration. It keeps my bleached hair feeling soft and helps to combat frizz without being too heavy. I always lather, rinse, repeat. There’s a reason they put that on the bottle.

Lee Stafford Bleach Blonde Purple Reign Shampoo

Confession, I only wash my hair once a week, twice at the absolute max, don’t judge. So once ever 2-3 weeks I like to switch it up and use a toning shampoo for my first round. It helps keep the blonde looking fresh and keep any brassiness at bay without a drying formula.

Treatments

Olaplex No 3

I’ve become obsessed with this cult product and there’s a reason why everyone loves it. It’s easy to use and leaves my hair noticeable smoother, softer and in far better condition. I fully believe this is why I don’t have more split ends at the moment.

The Inkey List Peptide Volumising Hair Treatment

This works to actually thicken your hair, instead of something like a mousse that just adds temporary volume. I apply a few drops before blow drying and then again every few days between washing to give it a boost. It’s helped to leave my hair looking smoother and thicker after blow drying.

Styling

The Inkey List PCA Bond Repair Hair Treatment

Perfect for anyone with damaged hair, this body repairer spray isn’t a million miles from Olaplex. It helps to repair damage to the hair by protecting and restrengthening the bonds while also hydrating and smoothing. Spray to damp hair for an extra hit of heat protection.

SGX NYC Products

Texturising dry shampoos and hairspray have been my best friends for the past year. These two from SGX give enough texture and hold to give my hair the boost it needs and eek out an extra day but they don’t feel heavy in the hair. They’ll hold everything in place but also brush out easily when the time comes. Plus, they’re cruelty free and vegan. What more do you want?
